DAY 3: OSLO - MYRDAL - FLAM (Regular train + Flåm train)
In the morning, walk to the central station: your train journey in Norway begins. You will board the regular Bergen Railway train. This line is renowned for its picturesque scenery, and the train journey between Oslo and Myrdal is ranked as one of the most beautiful in the world.
The journey takes around 4h30 and immerses you in Norway's wilderness. Snow-capped mountains, waterfalls and rivers, lakes in the distance and, of course, dense forest flash past.
From Myrdal you then take the train to Flåm, one of Norway's world-famous trains. On board one of the steepest trains in the world, you cross spectacular scenery along the Rollar route. The 40-minute journey takes the train through the narrow Flåm valley and along Europe's deepest fjord, the Sognefjord. The Flåm travels slowly along the route, stopping at the most spectacular spots, including the Kjosfossen waterfall.
You arrive at the village of Flåm, nestling in the heart of Aurlandsfjord, surrounded by rugged mountains, waterfalls and narrow valleys.
The rest of the day is free for you to explore the surrounding area and, why not, continue on to the Stegastein viewpoint, which offers a panoramic view of Aurlandsfjiord.
Dinner and overnight at Hotel Flåmsbrygga or similar (room with view). (B, D)
DAY 4: FLAM - BALESTRAND (Ferry)
After breakfast, you take the boat from Flåm to Balestrand via Sognefjord, Norway's longest fjord, which stretches 204 km inland from its mouth north of Bergen. The landscapes bordering its famous arm, Nærøyfjord, offer an exceptional panorama that UNESCO has declared a World Heritage Site.
Arrive in Balestrand and check into your hotel.
Overnight at Hotel Kvikne's or similar (room with view). (B, D)
DAY 5: BALESTRAND - BERGEN (Ferry)
After an early breakfast, you board a ferry for a 4-hour crossing to Bergen. You sail along the Sognefjord to the west coast of Norway and its capital, the city of Bergen. Welcome to one of Northern Europe's oldest port cities and the country's second largest city.
Bergen is known as the gateway to the fjords and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a stroll through the popular historic Bryggen district, with its preserved medieval architecture, and the Hanseatic Museum.
