DAY 1: PARIS – BRUSSELS or ZURICH – VIENNA (NightJet Train)

Your train journey to Austria begins in Paris. Board a regular 2nd-class TGV train to Brussels or Zurich (depending on availability).
In the evening, settle comfortably aboard your NightJet sleeper train bound for Vienna (approximately 15h14 travel time). The train does not offer full dining service. Discovery Trains recommends dining before departure or bringing a snack on board.

DAY 2: VIENNA

A light breakfast is served in your compartment (coffee and pastry).
Arrival in Vienna in the morning.

Transfer to your hotel on your own. With your 48-hour Vienna Transport Card, you can use the city’s public transportation network (metro, tram, bus).

Your hotel room will be available from 3:00 p.m., but you may leave your luggage at the reception desk earlier.
Free morning for personal exploration and lunch on your own.

Your French-speaking guide will meet you at the hotel reception around 2:00 p.m.
Departure for a 3-hour walking city tour of Vienna, including the State Opera, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Hofburg Palace, the Secession Building, the Museum Quarter, and the City Hall. Admire the baroque and gothic façades alongside Jugendstil, Art Deco, and Bauhaus architecture.

Afternoon at leisure. Optional: Classical evening concert at Schönbrunn Palace.
Overnight in Vienna (light breakfast included).

DAY 3: VIENNA – PARIS (NightJet Train)

Day at leisure for independent sightseeing.
You’ll receive a card that allows you to choose two visits among Vienna’s most iconic attractions.

A few suggestions (the full list is included in your travel booklet):

• Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens, one of Austria’s most emblematic sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once the Habsburgs’ summer residence, it’s often compared to Versailles for its grandeur and historical significance.
• Belvedere Palace, a magnificent baroque residence that houses the most important collection of Gustav Klimt’s masterpieces.
• Hofburg Palace, the former imperial residence, including the Sisi Museum, dedicated to Empress Elisabeth of Austria, a national icon.
• Albertina Museum, an internationally renowned art museum featuring masterpieces by Dürer, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Schiele, and Klimt.
• Museum Quarter (MuseumsQuartier), one of the largest cultural complexes in the world, and more.

In the evening, board your NightJet sleeper train from Vienna Central Station to Brussels or Zurich (depending on availability). The train does not offer full dining service. Discovery Trains recommends dining before departure or bringing a snack on board.

DAY 4: BRUSSELS or ZURICH – PARIS

A light breakfast is served in your compartment.
Arrival in Brussels or Zurich. Short connection to your 2nd-class TGV train to Paris in the morning.

On this itinerary, you’ll travel aboard the NightJet night train: Paris <> Brussels (15h14).

NIGHT TRAIN – NIGHTJET
The NightJet is the night train operated by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB). It offers three comfort categories: seated coaches, couchette cars (4–6 berths), and sleeper cabins (1–3 berths). You can share a compartment with other travelers or book a private one for yourself.

When booking, compartments are mixed by default, though it’s sometimes possible to request a berth in a women-only compartment. Compartments adapted for wheelchair users are also available.

2ND CLASS COMPARTMENT (4–6 BERTHS)
This type of compartment is ideal for small groups, families, or travelers on a budget.

Each berth comes with a blanket, sheets, and a pillow. Toilets are located at each end of the car, and there is also a washroom in every carriage. Compartments can be locked from the inside.

A Viennese-style breakfast (coffee or tea, one roll, butter, jam) and a bottle of mineral water are offered on board. A menu of additional snacks and beverages is also available for purchase in your compartment.

1ST CLASS COMPARTMENT (1–3 BERTHS)
This option is perfect for travelers seeking a more peaceful and comfortable journey. A blanket, sheets, pillow, towels, and toiletries are provided. Each car has a small wash area (sink) at both ends. Compartments can be locked from both the inside and outside. A à la carte breakfast and hot beverages are offered on board.
