Our excursion to Munich and the Bavarian Alps from 16th  to 21st April 2009.

After a tour of Munich and its numerous attractions by tram, we then criss-crossed the Bavarian Alps with our special railcar.



Excellent organisation by our German partners, magnificient scenery and good weather all contributed to the success of this "escapade".




Our fantastic train and boat journey through Lapland and beyond the Arctic Circle from 28th February to 8 March 2009.

During this extraordinary journey we had ample opportunity to experience the special atmosphere which reigns in these isolated and snow-covered lands ; numerous visits to the villages and musuems also allowed us to familiarise ourselves with the history and culture of the sami people who settled there thousands of years ago.



Snow, sun, the mountains of Lapland, the Norwegian fjords, tje friendly welcome everywhere all made this an unforgettable experience and an even better programme is already being planned for next winter. A slide show will shortly be online with more photos of the trip.

Although the sun didn't shine, we had a very full weekend with the Rheingold excursion to Lissendorf, the visits to the mills..........

  and the special atmosphere of Cologne's winter markets and the Rhine brunch cruise....

We were present for the duration of the Steam Festival organised in a very professional manner by the "Chemin de Fer des Trois Vallées" in Mariembourg, a town situated in a beautiful part of Belgium amid lush valleys and forests..

Our first accompanied tour was a 9 day circuit through Lapland . Plenty of sunshine, some rain, a bit cool at the end of the journey - we were, after all, well beyond the arctic circle !

A relaxing week but with plenty of visits and activities meant that we got to see the heart of Lapland, using main-line trains, a special train and a coach.
