This tour will bring you to the heart of Tunisia's varied countryside and be a unique opportunity to observe at close hand its birdlife. From leaving Tunis you will journey through the eastern half of Tunisia and its numerous national parks and wildlife reserves.
Introduction
Throughout your tour you will be accompanied by an expert guide, well-versed in the history, culture and wildlife of the region; he will help you to make the most of your stay. During the week you will discover the salt marshes of Skanès, the islands of Kneiss, the Jedidi lake, the lagune of Korba, lake Ichkeul and the wetlands in the region of Tunis. Short journeys by four wheel drive vehicule ensure you get close-up views. And at the end of an amazing week, an excursion to the charming coastal village of Sid Bou Saïd will be an enchanting finale.

Details
Day 1
Individual arrivals at Tunis-Carthage airport (or port) and transfer and check-in at the hôtel in Tunis. Dinner. Overnight in Tunis.

Day 2
After breakfast, transfer to the railway station for the three-hour train journey to Sousse and then Monastir. Free time for lunch at your leisure before taking a journey by train and on foot to the saltmarshes of Skanès. Return to Sousse and dinner at your leisure. Overnight in Sousse.

Day 3
After breakfast a short (1 hour) journey by train to Jem ensures there is time to visit the amphitheatre before boarding the connecting train for Sfax. A picnic lunch is available on board. Upon arriving in Sfax, a short taxi ride takes the group to Thyna (Roman ruins and bird-nesting) and thence back to Sfax. Dinner at leisure. Overnight in Sfax.

Day 4
In the morning a short train ride takes the group to Mahrès for the onward connection by boat to the nearby Kneiss islands; a guided visit followed by a picnic complete an invigorating day outdoors before the return to Mahrès. Dinner in Mahrès. Overnight in Mahrès.

Day 5
Breakfast is followed by a three hour train journey to Bir Bou Regha with a picnic lunch on board. Upon arrival, excursion by four wheel drive vehicule to Lake Jedidi and return journey directly to Nabeul. Dinner at leisure in Nabeul. Overnight in Nabeul. (First of two nights).

Day 6
After breakfast, day-long excursion to the nature reserve of the Korba lagune with picnic. Return to Nabeul and dinner at leisure. Second of two nights in Nabeul.

Day 7
The day starts with a short train journey from Nabeul to Tunis; upon arrival excursion by tram through the town and return on foot via the Medina. At the end of the morning a one-hour trip by train with picnic on board brings the group to Tinja. This is the starting point of the excursion by four wheel drive vehicule to the Ichkeul nature reserve. After visiting the orientation point and the reserve, return to Tunis via Mateur where the group stops for a typical local evening meal. Overnight in Tunis. (First of two nights).

Day 8
After breakfast an excursion by four wheel drive vehicule to the wetlands surrounding Tunis. Picnic en route. During the afternoon, return to Tunis and thence by local train to the coastal village of Sid Bou Saïd. Dinner in the village and return by train to Tunis. Second and last night in Tunis.

After breakfast transfer to the airport and homeward journeys.
